Get Involved

Dear Kandinsky by John F. Gerrard

Everything starts from a dot.

Wassily Kandinsky

We’re an online community creating a network of peer supporters from a variety of sectors ranging from mental health and substance use, to physical health concerns and sexual exploitation.

Our goal is to provide opportunities for peer supporters to develop and practice their leadership skills and learn from one another.

Who is the network for?

The IPLN is targeted at practising Peer Supporters in frontline roles looking to develop their leadership skills, and peer support leaders looking to connect, share and learn from other leaders to enhance their peer leadership practice.

As a member of IPLN you will:

  • Connect with an international community of fellow peer supporters and peer leaders.

  • Develop personally and professionally through a co-curated programme of initiatives and activities.

  • Learn the latest developments in peer support, how peer leadership is evolving internationally, how you can get involved and grow peer leadership in your own teams and communities.

  • Access guidance, resources, professional development and networking opportunities and support.

  • Learn and shape what peer leadership can look like.

  • Identify and spread good practice and innovation.

  • Forge lasting relationships.

  • Be part of a global movement that builds collective power for Peer Supporters.

Testimonials

  • Hi, my name’s Catherine and I’m a Peer Support Worker.

Why I think IPLN is important, is that us peers know that we have a place to go to. We’re connecting with other peer support workers from around the world whilst focusing on how can we develop and strengthen and continue moving forward with our peer practice.

If you have any questions at all about what peer support is or how we can improve our peer practice, this is a great place to be. Because peer support is such a new and rising profession, it can feel quite isolating at times depending where you are. So this community gives you a space for where you can feel connected with other people.

I feel very blessed and thankful to be a part of this community, and its great to know there’s an entire community of us from around the world.

  • It’s so important for me to be a part of the International Peer Leadership Network just to validate my own personal impact in the community.

You know, doing this work is not easy sometimes, so just knowing that I have a band of friends, and a support network to lean on and just bounce ideas off of, it’s just reassuring, validating, motivating and exciting.

And you know, I think that peer support is the future, and it really should be a way of life. So, through this network I think we’ll eventually get people there. It’s going to get to a point where it just can’t be ignored.

You know the recovery model and this peer support model, and this trauma informed care model, will not be able to be ignored. So it’s exciting to on the groundwork of all of this stuff.

So yeah, that’s why I’m a part of this network. Thank you!
